Penske is a company which origins go back to the American transport sector, and is now working in transport, automotive and energy, worldwide.
The great question of Penske Australia was: ‘How do we get 7 generators containerized, while meeting noise- and environmental demands with extreme temperatures of +50 degrees Celsius. And how do we make the container ‘cyclone proof’?’
The ingenious idea of so-called ‘cyclone hoods’ made Penske decide to outsource the units to Intertech. Cyclone hoods will regulate the airflow such that the noise level will drop to the set standards. And also provides a solution against cyclones.
The scope of delivery contains 7 MTU 12V4000 gas engines provided with a Leroy-Somer LSA53.2 VL6 generator, which combined generate more than 8 mW. During the engineering and production of the units we took account of the strict noise- and environmental demands.
A MTU 16V2000 Diesel generator is installed as ‘black start’ for energy supply of the intern equipment of the gas units.
